Jazz—Ornette Coleman
Poster design interprets my impression on Jazz: endless, causal, and uncatchable. The poster should include an object, a musician’s name, an instrument, the venue and the date of the musician’s concert. Ornette Coleman was the musician I chose, and I drew his instrument, a saxophone, with loose lines to represent the casualness and fluidity that I feel from his music. The musician’s name Ornette Coleman was made with watercolor, huge yet not vibrant, so it can live harmoniously with the eye-catching object (my impression of jazz music). Finally, an edgy clear font was used to inform viewers the information of Ornette’s concert.
